Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989
Under Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989, 17 Special Session Courts have been established and in the districts where special courts have not been established, District & Sessions Courts have been empowered to undertake proceedings under the Act. Financial assistance to the victims of atrocities varies for different type of atrocities.
Sufficient powers to deal with crimes and atrocities have been given to the implementing Department i.e. Police Department. As and when cases of atrocities comes in the notice, the Police Department take action immediately.
Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe victims of atrocities are eligible for monetary grants by way of compensation. State Government has placed necessary funds at the disposal of District Magistrates to sanction such grants to the real victims, or their kith & kin.
As per Annexure-I (Schedule) to the "Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules, 1995 the NORMS FOR RELIEF AMOUNT are as Annexed (Click here).
